When we first came to Great Britain
we went to Sussex and a small town named
Selsey, nor far from Chichester and Arundel.
At Conifers Hotel we had been warmly welcomed
by Commander and Mrs. Pritchard. It was a
charming small hotel with old Conifer trees
in the mid of the garden and next to the beach.
The English breakfast was something like a brunch
with smoked haddock/sea-fish, porridge-if you like,
toast and orange jam and eggs/sausages/tomato.
Traditional style.
Commander Pritchard owning a JAG Mk 2, old-
fashioned, and the lounge was furnished with arm-
chairs and a well-equipped bar.
There we enjoyed our drinks in the evening and
could try some dessert/trifles from the trolley.
Yes. OUT OF THE WORLD, not only the place itself,
but the cozy atmosphere.., for us: having a good time.
Later on, when we went to London, we met a young
man asking us where we came from?
We mentioned that Selsey was the place chosen for our Honeymoon-Trip to GB but he told us :
Oh, this is the “End-of-the-World”, but
whether or not, for us it was a pleasant place to enjoy
a fantastic time…, by the sea.
On the way back to Dover we had a last cup of tea at
Wishing-Well, a small garden restaurant south of
Canterbury/Kent, sitting outside and enjoying the fresh
air…, maybe you have to be some sort of individualist
if you prefer the very north/west of the landscapes, but it’s far
better than to sit on crowded beaches, down in the south
of the Continent – we think so.
The only alternative for us was the opposite side of the
Channel /La Manche when we went to Cancale, Saint-Malo
and all these places, named Brittany/Bretagne.
Vice-versa, but also NICE or even nicer than NIZZA?
